Feet on the Street

It’s not too late to register! The Walkers Caucus and our partners in the Cities of Burnaby and New Westminster invite you to our forum Feet on the Street! Join a world movement to promote walking in our communities!
Feet on the Street is a free community event that will include workshops, walks and dinner. Our keynote speaker is Mitchell Reardon from Happy City.

Keynote: Mitchell Reardon, Happy City –will provide examples of how communities around the world are improving walking infrastructure that works for everyone. He’ll also provide practical tips to make walking happier in your neighbourhood!

Workshops:

Walking Advocacy – Walkers’ Caucus’ Reena Meijer Drees and Mary Wilson will walk you through working with a municipality to make walking easy and accessible in your city.
Walking Together: Towards a Healthier Community and a Healthier You – Dr. Davidicus Wong will discuss the physical and social benefits of walking and how to make it a part of your daily life.
Urban Design Walking Tour – Stuart Ramsey, City of Burnaby Manager of Transportation Planning will guide a walking tour highlighting new walkability features in Metrotown and the planning process that created them.
Healthy Urban Walking Environment – Alex Kwan of Fraser Health Built Environment program will facilitate a discussion on how transportation plans influence our health and behaviours.
